The deep black of the outside of this bowl is built-up with several layers of paint, making for a pronounced contrast with the natural color inside the bowl. The natural edge on the bowl adds some texture to the shape and provides an earthy feel. The inside of the bowl is super smooth because it has been shaped and sanded by hand. A couple of coats of mineral oil on the inside keeps the surface protected and shows the color of the wood.
